Acupuncture involves the use of thin, sterile needles inserted into certain points of the body. Depending on the location of the needles, acupuncture can have a variety of effects that can assist the body in the healing process. One effect is to increase the blood flow to an injured area to supply the site with the necessary cells for healing. Acupuncture is therefore an effective and popular therapy for the treatment of musculoskeletal pain. Acupuncture can also have an effect on the body’s receptors to reset nerve sensitivity, reduce inflammation and speed the recovery of both new and old injuries. Beyond pain reduction, acupuncture can also:

  • Increase range of motion
  • Promote blood and muscle cell production
  • Boost metabolism
  • Naturally regulate the release and production of hormones
  • Reduce stress and cortisone
  • Improve sleep
  • Enhance the immune system
  • Aid digestion
  • Improve mental health and wellbeing

Acupuncture can also be integrated with other treatments that you are receiving from other therapists at Elevate.
