7 Natural Face Masks

You don’t have to go to a spa to give your face a quick assist! Treat yourself to a soothing homemade face mask with ingredients from your own kitchen. Give these 7 face mask recipes a go for a quick pick-me-up that will leave you feeling and looking better!

You can officially say good bye to forking out hundreds for face creams and serums which claim to provide you with skin fit for the gods! More importantly, these recipes avoid all chemicals and parabens commonly used as preservatives in a number of our cosmetics.

Oatmeal Mask

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup of warm (not boiling) water
  • 1/3 cup of oatmeal
  • 2 tbsp plain yoghurt
  • 2tbsp honey
  • 1 egg white

Method:

  1. Combine water and oatmeal
  2. Let the water and oatmeal settle for two or three minutes
  3. Mix in plain yogurt, honey, and egg white
  4. Apply a thin layer of the mask to your face, and let it sit for 10 to 15 minutes
  5. Rinse with warm water

Banana Mask

Ingredients:

  • Medium ripe banana
  • 1/4 cup plain yoghurt
  • 2 tbsp honey

Method:

  1. Mash up banana, yoghurt and honey into a smooth paste
  2. Gently apply it to your face and neck
  3. Let it set for ten to 20 minutes
  4. Rinse with cold water

Vinegar Mask

Ingredients:

  • 1/4 cup cider vinegar
  • 1/4 cup water

Method:

  1. Mix cider vinegar with water
  2. Gently apply the solution to your face and let it dry
  3. Rinse

Mayonnaise Mask

Ingredients:

  • Whole egg mayonnaise

Method:

  1. Gently spread the mayonnaise over your face
  2. Leave it on for about 20 minutes
  3. Wipe off and rinse with cold water

Honey Mask

Ingredients:

  • 2/3 cup instant oats
  • 1/2 cup hot water
  • 1/2 cored apple
  • 2 tbsp yoghurt
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • 1 egg white

Method:

  1. Heat instant oats in hot water for about five minutes until the mixture thickens
  2. While waiting, toss apple into a blender with yoghurt, honey, and egg white
  3. Blend at a pulse for 45 seconds, then add the heated oatmeal mixture
  4. Blend at a pulse for another 20 seconds
  5. Apply the mixture to your face
  6. Let it sit for 15 minutes for maximum nourishment
  7. Rinse

Lemon Mask

Ingredients:

  • 1 lemon
  • 1/4 cup olive oil or sweet almond oil

Method:

  • Mix juice from lemon with oil
  • Apply to face
  • Let it sit for 15 minutes
  • Rinse

Yoghurt Mask

Ingredients:

  • 1 tsp plain yoghurt
  • 1/4 slice of orange juice
  • 1 tsp aloe

Method:

  1. Mix plain yogurt with the juice from orange, some of the orange pulp, and aloe
  2. Leave the mixture on your face for at least 5 mins
  3. Rinse
