    Maria has a special interest in sports specific assessment and rehabilitation, with particular interest in hyper mobility.

    What are your core beliefs about wellness and health?

    I believe that balance across all facets of life is key to staying happy and healthy in body and mind.

    What mistakes do patients make?

    People misread warning signs and often describe behaviour and associated niggling complaints that are a precursor for developing pain or injury. Taking early action can minimise injury severity and allow quicker and more effective recovery.

    What key health lessons do you like to impart to patients?

    I like to educate patients to better interpret warning signs and recognise dysfunction and asymmetry..

    What do you enjoy about your job?

    I enjoy managing all types of sports injuries and improving athletic performance with thorough bio-mechanical assessment, hands on therapy and exercise rehabilitation. With a good appreciation for activity demands, the appropriate treatment strategy can be implemented for fast accurate recovery as well as improved performance and function.

    What led you to Elevate?

    I have always collaborated with other health practitioners and enjoy being in a multidisciplinary environment.

    Tell us a little about your credentials?

    I am an APA titled Sports Physiotherapist with a Masters in Sports Physiotherapy, Masters in Physiotherapy (GE) and Bachelor of Health Sciences (Physiology and Psychology). I have worked across a range of sports at national, state, club and recreational levels for over 12 years. I additionally provide dance physio and vocal unloading services for dance and musical theatre productions in Sydney, and provide sports physio services for NSWIS diving.  

    I have a special interest in artistic and flexibility based sports and have particular expertise in working with hypermobility. I am skilled at sport specific screening for minimising injury and improving performance, and am accredited by the tertiary dance council in completing dance and pre-pointe assessments. 

    What are your extracurricular passions?

    I have been a yogi for over 20 years and self-confessed exercise junkie for equally as long. I have a background in soccer and a love for dance with a passion for salsa. I am happiest when my body and mind are active and enjoy being surrounded by friends and family, and accompanied by good food and wine.
