What is Naturopathy?

Naturopathy is a  complete system of healthcare that takes an individualised and holistic approach to health and wellbeing.  It is based on the key principle that the body has the innate ability to heal itself.  Using the healing powers of natural remedies, the body’s detoxification processes are supported to provide the best possible health outcomes for patients.

What Do Naturopath’s Treat?

Some of the areas our Naturopaths can assist with include:

  • Weight loss and diet
  • Reproductive health and fertility
  • Digestive health
  • Autoimmune disorders
  • Improved energy levels
  • Restoring proper sleep cycles
  • Skin health
  • Musculoskeletal and joint aches and pains.

How do Naturopaths treat?

Naturopaths use a variety of treatment methods depending on the patient’s needs and their  own training background and experience.  Common treatment methods used by our Naturopaths include:

  • Nutritional Medicine & dietary advice
  • Herbal Medicine
  • Lifestyle advice
  • Bioresonance Therapy

How can Naturopathy help with diet?

Nutrition and herbs work in conjunction with each other, both helping to restore balance in the body.  A common area of overlap is meal preparation and cooking practices—it’s here where you can spice up your life, all the while, receiving medicinal benefits from the herbs!  Add some turmeric, cumin, and black pepper to your stews; sprinkle rosemary and sage on your roasted veggies; add in some ginger, cinnamon, and cardamom to your morning porridge.  Herbs are rich sources of antioxidants, which are powerful compounds that help to protect the cells in our bodies.

What should I expect from my first Naturopathic appointment?

At your initial appointment our Naturopath will complete an extensive health history touching on all aspects of your life to get a complete and holistic picture.  Information regarding diet, lifestyle, psychological and emotional stress and physical activity will all be discussed at your first appointment.  Education and patient empowerment are essential in the naturopathic journey to optimal health, as you play a critical role in managing your personally tailored Health Care Plan.  Follow up visits are scheduled as necessary to monitor your progress, assess how well the health plan is working, and to adjust for any changes.

As well as a Personal Healthcare Plan, you will receive a tailored herbal medicine and nutritional supplements from the Elevate dispensary at your first appointment.
